Frequently Asked Questions

Why the name "Hillcrest Glow"?

We chose Hillcrest Glow Dental Office to reflect the warm, bright, and modern atmosphere of our clinical space. Our name change represents a renewed commitment to providing high-quality, patient-centered care in the neighborhood we love.

What should I expect during my first visit?

Your first visit is all about ensuring your comfort, beginning with a brief check-in before we take digital X-rays and perform a thorough oral health exam. From there, our hygienist will gently clean and polish your teeth, followed by an open discussion to answer any questions and map out a personalized care plan if any treatment is needed.

Do you see children? When should my child first visit the dentist?

The American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry recommends scheduling a child’s first visit when their first tooth erupts, or by their first birthday. We welcome children from 6 months and up for visual exams, and we typically introduce routine dental X-rays around age 4 unless a specific clinical need arises sooner.

What should I do if I have a dental emergency?

We offer emergency dental appointments to get you out of pain as quickly as possible, and we welcome same-day appointments and walk-ins. Please note that if you are experiencing severe swelling of the face, we urge you to seek immediate care at an emergency room.

Do you accept my dental insurance?

We work with a wide variety of PPO insurance plans, and we proudly accept Medi-Cal dental benefits, also known as Denti-Cal, for eligible patients. For patients without insurance, we also offer an affordable in-house dental plan; please call our office to confirm your specific provider, coverage details, or plan options.

Do you have specialists in the office?

While we do not have specific specialists on-site, Dr. Ryu is a general practitioner experienced in a wide range of comprehensive treatments. We are proud to provide most of your family’s care right here in-house, including root canals, extractions, dentures, and pediatric care for children. If a case is exceptionally complex and requires a specialist’s touch, Dr. Ryu will provide a referral to a trusted local expert to ensure you receive the best possible care.
